Grobest appoints James Williams as new Group Sustainability Director
Asian aquaculture feed giant Grobest Group has appointed James Williams as Group Sustainability Director, effective from September 1. The position is newly created and reflects the Taiwanese company’s commitment to maintaining the highest environmental, social and governance standards as part of its mission to feed the world sustainably and responsibly.

James brings expertise in water and natural resources management, agricultural development and human rights, and comes with extensive field-based experience working on governance, risk, sustainability and organisational change for agribusiness across the Asia Pacific region. “The majority of Grobest’s production sites and suppliers are in dynamic, fast-growing but also highly challenging regions of southern China, Southeast Asia and India”, James explains. “Many of the risks from an ESG perspective are complex and deeply-entrenched. The trick lies in developing approaches that satisfy our stakeholders’ expectations for international best practice in transparency, accountability, impact management and safeguards implementation while incorporating local knowledge and solutions that are tailored to specific ground-level conditions and contexts. Done well, Grobest has a tremendous opportunity to make an important contribution to local livelihoods and sustainable economic development.”

James will be based out of Hong Kong, reporting directly to Chief Technical Development & Sustainability Officer - Jennifer Kuo.
